Fall is a busy time rich with engagement throughout the MTS community and this year was no exception. Our headquarters team had the chance to connect and visit with members at OCEANS 2023 Gulf Coast, Lakebed 2030, the Dynamic Positioning Committee Conference, and the 31st Annual Oceaneering/MTS Symposium. These in-person events, and others like them throughout the year, provide an unrivaled opportunity to deepen connection, share conversation, and build the relationships that strengthen our marine technology community.

About Black Girls Dive Foundation
Black Girls Dive Foundation (BGDF) establishes space and opportunity to empower young ladies to explore their STEM identity through marine science and conservation, and SCUBA diving. BGDF is a designated 501c(3), volunteer-based, educational non-profit organization that was founded in 2017 in Maryland. Currently, there are local chapters operating in Maryland - Baltimore County and Baltimore City; Trenton, New Jersey, and Atlanta, Georgia.

Marine Technology Society Celebrates 60 Years

Formed in June 1963, the Marine Technology Society (MTS) stands stronger than ever six decades later.

In the early 1960’s, a group of business, academic, and government leaders recognized the need for a professional society to bring together scientists, engineers, and others interested in the rapidly growing fields of ocean technology and marine affairs. They convened a committee to establish the character, name, objectives, and basic policies of MTS – launched as a not-for-profit corporation in June of 1963.
