The event involved women engineers, technologists and scientists focusing on students for career opportunities in the marine sector and served as a platform to spread awareness on the IEEE and MTS activities to students across India and globally. The event, which was UN Decade endorsed, featured speakers including: Zdenka Willis, President MTS; Susan Kathy Land, President IEEE; Dr Cleopatra Doumbia Henry, President, World Maritime University Sweden; and Geetha Muthiah, Chettinad Academy of Research and Education, Chennai India. In addition, the event featured two short video presentations on two of the UN Decade outcomes: (1) A Clean Ocean (2) A Healthy & Resilient Oceans by three school children. |
As we return from summer break, and parents send their children back to school, we have to wonder – what hasn’t changed? Everything looks a little different this year, whether it’s remote work, masking in schools, social distancing in public places, or reaching for hand sanitizer every time we come home. Our world is a far different place in 2021 than it was in 2019 and getting back to “normal” may take more time than any of us had anticipated.
There are two positions open for the 2021 MTS Board Elections: Treasurer and Vice President of Budget and Finance Vice President of Section Affairs. MTS members may vote through 5:00 p.m. EST on September 21, 2021. |
