MTS Launches into 2024 - January Message from the President

Happy New Year! Kicking off 2024, MTS is well positioned with a clear vision for the future. Equipped with new innovative programs and a growing professional team, we are ready to engage new opportunities and deliver more value to our members. We are committed to enhance member experience and elevate the society’s impact on the marine technology industry. We believe that the collaborative efforts of our society can drive positive change and advance marine technology globally.

As the new year unfolds, a fresh lineup of events awaits. The Ocean Sciences Meeting (OSM), Oceanology International (OI), and MTS/IEEE OCEANS in Singapore are significant gatherings that present invaluable opportunities for our members and the wider community. These events are not just conferences; they are platforms for collaboration and exploration of common interests. You will find key staff and members of our board, myself included, at all three of these events. Please reach out if you would like to discuss your MTS experience and interests.

In-person networking and curated events have proven to be powerful tools in growing our community. They create spaces for meaningful interactions, idea exchange, and the forging of new connections. It also serves as a reminder  that our marine technology community transcends geographical boundaries; it is as global as the ocean itself. The diversity of perspectives and experiences within our community enriches our collective understanding and inspires creativity.   

I want to emphasize that the MTS staff and our dedicated volunteer leaders are here to support you. Whether you are attending these events or engaging with MTS from afar, we encourage you to seek us out. Your ideas, interests, and feedback are invaluable to us. The society exists for its members, and your input shapes the direction we take.
