MTS Technology Forum and MTS DC Section/Oceaneering Symposium

These events are the annual kick-off for the MTS Washington DC Section's upcoming year’s activities and a signature event for the entire Capital region maritime community.  

The Technology Forum will be hosted by MTS from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at Oceaneering in Hanover, Maryland with a format that will include a panel discussion facilitated by a moderator.  The theme of the panel discussion will be “A New Era of Marine Technology and Data Management.” The moderator for the panel will be Ms. Ms. Lisa Blodgett, Sector Head, Force Project Sector, at Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory.  Ms. Blodgett has extensive experience in advanced surveillance build programs and surveillance anti-submarine warfare systems with new technologies. She is also a member of the Defense Science Board Task Force on unmanned undersea systems.

Panelists will include:

  • Rear Admiral Douglas Perry, Director, Undersea Warfare Division, N97, Office of CNO

  • Rear Admiral Ron J. Piret Commander, Naval Meteorology and Oceanography Command

  • Dr. Vicki Ferrini, Senior Research Scientist at Columbia University's Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory

  • Mr. Mark Stevens, Principal Program Manager, Microsoft’s Advanced Autonomy and Applied Robotics

Following the Technology Forum, MTS and Oceaneering will co-host the MTS/Oceaneering 30th annual Symposium.  This event has been a staple for the Washington D.C. area maritime community. The event features an industry exhibition and networking, also at Oceaneering’s Hanover, Maryland site. Exhibitors will be leading technology companies including small and disadvantaged businesses. As always, the event will feature a Maryland Crab dinner!
